MUCH LOVE NY!!

Ok, so I've finally found a moment to breathe (a Iittle bit), and I have to say the "HERE I AM" Book Concert on July 25th, 2012 in New York City was one of those nights!!! The energy was OUTRAGEOUSLY on another level!!! It was EPIC!!! From the love that the packed house brought into the room, to the hospitality of (le) poisson rouge, it was a much needed deep breath. My all time favorite DJ The Twilite Tone set the night and vibe off right. My videos rolled on the big screens as the people waited. The beautiful Yasmine Richard greeted the the audience getting them ready for the show. And then it began!! First to the stage, along with Mr. Fingaz (piano), Jameison (guitar), Shawn Lee (drums), Alex Smith (bass), Dante Hawkins (keys), Fredricka Krier (violin), and Tamish & Tiara (background vocals) filling the room with some GODly sounds and James Shields on the live painting, the one and only Tarrey Torae hit the mic. Gracing the stage with new music from her album "The Sweetest Survivor" to hitting them with one of co-written hits "Live It Up" by John Legend, she set the stage on fiiiire!!! The only complaint was that she didn't do MORE!!! But there was more to come...the official "HERE I AM" Book Concert!!! A lot of people admitted they didn't know what to expect, but we wanted to make it clear. Some dope sounds, be it Hip-Hop or Soul, combined with my Poetry & Lyrics. We WENT IN!!! Along with delivering literature from my new book "HERE I AM: Then & Now," I wanted to give people some of the Classics, as well as a taste of what's to come in the future. Along with the band (we're still deciding on a name), the background singers, and Tarrey Torae we flowed from song to song painting the full story. My guy Chris Rob came thru and sang and played the piano on a joint that's featured in the book and on the album called "Everything." And The LEGENDARY Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets came thru, hopped on stage, and showed SOOOO MUCH LOVE telling stories of Tarrey's Famous Sweet Potato Pie and Blessing me ENORMOUSLY with words of encouragement. The people laughed, cried, smiled, and were moved, as we were, by this AMAZING experience. Thank You New York for the Love!! Can't wait to do again...we've been hearing chants of encore, so that may have to be sooner than later. I'll keep you posted. Peace!!
