Yesterday I had the opportunity to start another leg of my "WRITE to LIVE Poetry & Leadership Academy" workshop with my "Partner in Shine" Tarrey Torae. This segment is taking place on the SouthSide's Ashburn Community Elementary School. It has always been a mission of mine, and Tarrey's as well, to give back to the community as much as possible. We have been blessed beyond belief with opportunities and gifts that have opened up doors for ourselves, our families, our friends, and colleagues. To be able to work with a VERY SPECIAL group of young students and share those experiences to lift them to new heights is a high like no other. It's only been two days and I'm already moved by the magic they possess. These young folks have definitely been here before. Their writing ability, intelligence, and willingness to learn more is so impressive. I'm truly amongst future leaders and I'm looking forward to seeing how far they excel over the next couple of weeks and beyond. Much Love Ashburn...see you in class!
