Today I headed over to visit Julian High School to speak to their broadcasting students. To my surprise they prepared a set, where I was filmed and interviewed by their very own Ms. Shevita Shaw. Shevita, who actually gave one of my favorite interviews to date, questioned me on my beginnings, on what's happening now, where I draw my inspiration from, and what's next. She truly is a natural...Oprah, watch out!! The students and staff showed me a tremendous amount of love and I was more than pleased by my visit. Thanks for the love Julian!! I look forward to seeing where life takes you guys...

Congrats to the host for winning the overall competition. On Sunday, I closed out the weekend with some studio work with Phil G., Tony Baines, and Tarrey Torae, for Phil G.'s upcoming album...HOT!! After the studio, I had an impromptu performance at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Shout out to Pastor Jenkins...back to work!! Have a Blessed One...

What's up World!! It's been a busy week so far. Monday's "Chicago's House of Hope" was absolutely amazing. 10,000 people showed up to support and raise money for the people of Haiti. It truly warmed my heart to see our people come together for a much needed cause. It was also great to be apart of event where I had a chance to perform a new song called "Hold On" along with Tarrey Torae. Not to mention that Common, Lala Hathaway, Lee England Jr., Shirley Ceasar, Karen Clark Sheards, Bobby Jones, George Wilbourn, Damon Williams, and others did their thang!! Very special shout out to Pastor Jenkins, Rev. Meeks, and everyone who took part in organizing the event. From there it was off to Virginia. The airports were down, so I hoped on the road, fought through a blizzard and made it safely to Lexington, VA. There I had a chance to rock for Washington & Lee University. And when I say they showed love...MAN!!! Thanks W&L...Love yall much. And can't wait to come back...see yall next year.
Now, I'm off to New York...stay tuned!!

And if that wasn't enough, the old Bozo Show studio was right up the hall. Wow, back down memory lane... Special shout out to Jerry Riles and Lynneisha. Thank you all for the love! "Black History, Black Future!"
Well the 1st month of the new decade ended on a good note. I'm looking forward to the next month, the next moment that I'm able to share my gift. Until then, let's be reminded that "History can't be confined to one month, because History is made each and every day..."

We're still making a few tweeks, but here I will keep you posted on upcoming shows, events, and the release date for my album "Here I Am!" Already it's been a busy year both personally and outside of my circle. From Martin Luther King Events I've participated in, where I had a chance to speak and perform for a lot of inspiring young people, to the devastation the World has witnessed in Haiti it's clear that these times have a lot in store. With that said, stay tuned and thank you all for you support. ps. Special shout out to Justin Brown for designing the site. You're the man!
